Patient visiting was cancelled on Tuesday evening, health bosses said

A hospital had to stop admissions to its emergency department due to "significant temporary disruption" to its water supply.

Health officials advised anyone needing urgent treatment to go to other units while it fixed the issue at Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend.

Patient visiting was also cancelled on Tuesday evening, according to Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board, which manages the hospital.

The health board confirmed at 22:00 BST the situation was "resolving" and said the emergency department was "open as normal".

Welsh Water said it sent engineers to help although the problem was not linked to its services.

It also sent tankers to supplement the supply of water to the site, it said.

The health board said it was working to "restore services as quickly as possible" in a Facebook post just before 15:40 BST.
