Police closed the road following the crash

A major road was closed for several hours after a serious crash.

A motorcycle and a car collided on the A14 near Thrapston in Northamptonshire at about 10:30 BST.

The road was closed westbound between junctions 13 for Thrapston and 11 for Finedon and Cranford, with diversions put in place, but National Highways said it was reopened at about 15:50.

Earlier, it said on X that traffic was being turned around and there were delays of about 40 minutes and four miles (6.5km) in the area.
