I'm Every Woman: The Chaka Khan Musical debuted in London before heading to the Congress Theatre in Eastbourne, East Sussex, from 7 to 11 April.

Burke told BBC South East: "Her music has paved the way for so many artists out there."

She added: "To have 50 years plus within the industry, not many people can say that they have achieved that.

"And she can say that."

Burke received a personal invitation from the American singer to play her in the show.

She said: "It's quite overwhelming to be honest, because you go through such an emotional journey in this show.

"Blood, sweat and tears. It's been a journey for sure."

The musical tells the story of Khan's life, accompanied by a soundtrack of some of her greatest hits.
