A 58-year-old man is to face trial over the murder of his elderly father.

Richard Woolley Jr, of Garratts Green Lane in Birmingham, was charged after a man was found dead at a property in Eagle Close in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, on Saturday.

The victim was later identified by Avon and Somerset Police as 80-year-old Richard Woolley Sr.

Woolley Jr, who did not appear during a short hearing at Bristol Crown Court on Thursday, has been remanded into custody ahead of a trial, which has been provisionally set to begin in 14 September.
