A man charged with the murder of his father has made his first court appearance.

Richard Woolley Jr, 58, of Garratts Green Lane in Birmingham, was charged on Monday after a man was found dead at a property in Eagle Close in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, on Saturday.

The victim was later identified by Avon and Somerset Police as 80-year-old Richard Woolley Sr.

The defendant did not enter a plea during the brief hearing at North Somerset Magistrates' Court on Tuesday morning. His next court appearance will be on Thursday at Bristol Crown Court.
