A man has died after falling from a city centre building, police have confirmed.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) were called at about 16:00 BST on Saturday to reports that a man had fallen from the building on Charles Street in Manchester city centre.

The force said the man's death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

A blue forensic tent has been put up in the street outside the Maldron Hotel and Charles Street remains closed with a number of police vehicles in the area.
