A 20-year-old man has denied causing the death of a teenage girl who died in a car crash.

Richard Robinson, of Kingswood, near Bristol, appeared at Swindon Crown Court earlier accused of causing death by dangerous driving following the death of 16-year-old Toya Jefferies. He spoke to confirm his name and enter his not guilty plea.

The teenager, from Royal Wootton Bassett, was a passenger in a car which crashed between Rushton and Hilmarton, in Wiltshire, on 29 August 2024. She died at the scene.

Robinson was released on bail and a provisional trial date was set for 18 January 2027.

Jefferies' family had previously called the teenager "a little firecracker who touched everyone's hearts".

In a statement, they said: "Toya was the most beautiful, amazing daughter.

"She was loved by everyone she met and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends."
