Elderly woman dies in bus collision on high street

A woman in her 70s has been killed in a collision with a bus on a busy high street.

Avon and Somerset Police are investigating the collision that took place just before 13:20 BST on Regent Street in Kingswood.

Police said the woman was pronounced dead at the scene and her next of kin have been informed.

Regent Street remains closed while inquiries continue, with a cordon in place outside the Kings Chase Shopping Centre.

A police spokesperson said: "Her next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with them during this incredibly difficult time.

"Her family is being offered support by a specialist family liaison officer."
