Drugs and guns seized during cross-border operation
An Garda SíochánaTwo men have been arrested following a joint cross-border police operation.
A man in his 40s was arrested in County Louth on suspicion of drug trafficking after Gardaí (Irish police) uncovered 119kg (262lb) of cannabis in Dundalk, County Louth, after a car was stopped on Wednesday. The estimated street value is €1.6m (£1.4m).
Follow up searches were conducted in Newtownabbey, County Antrim, where a further 45kg of cannabis, half a kilogram of suspected cocaine and 22 imitation firearms were seized, along with £25,000 in cash.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland's Organised Crime Unit, who conducted that search, arrested a man in his 30s.
