Arrest after police stand-off led to road closure
BBCA man has been arrested after a stand-off with police led to a major road in Nottingham being closed.
Nottinghamshire Police said officers were sent to Ilkeston Road after reports a man "was in possession of a knife" at about 10:55 BST on Friday.
A police cordon was in place near the junction with Balfour Road, with traffic diverted on to neighbouring routes, before it was lifted at about 15:20.
In a statement, the force said a 43-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray and possessing an offensive weapon.

Priya Pandit and Callum Sandland, who are bus drivers for trentbarton, said they were left waiting for hours while the road was closed.
"There's been a lot of people just watching, but it's been pretty tense, really, because we don't really have an idea of what's going on," said Sandland.
"[The passengers] have been quite annoyed we've had to stop, but they've been understanding, because obviously a police situation takes priority."
Pandit added: "It's just been a bit chaotic - cars keep coming, spinning around in the road, police cars keep coming non-stop.
"You don't expect this to happen on a Friday."
