A pub shut since 2015 is set to be demolished and replaced by a five-storey building.

The Battle Inn stands at the prominent corner of Oxford Road and Bedford Road near Reading town centre.

The last pub there, The Royal, shut 11 years ago and it will be replaced with the building set to include six self-contained flats and new commercial space.

Reading Council's planning applications committee approved the project by developer Anrish Properties at a meeting earlier this month.
