Investigation under way after residential fire

Investigations are under way after a home was evacuated on Tuesday evening due to a fire.

Jersey Fire and Rescue Service said it received reports of smoke coming from a property on Grosvenor Street in St Helier at about 22:20 BST.

It said six firefighters tackled the blaze and all the people inside the property were evacuated to safety "due to the quick actions of the occupier".

The fire service said it wanted to "stress the importance of having a working fire alarm and CO alarms".
