Police officers were called to a report of a man raping a woman on Stroud Road in Gloucester at about 22:30 BST on Sunday.

Anachi Thomas, aged 41 and of no fixed abode, has now been charged with rape. He appeared at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court on Tuesday and was remanded in custody ahead of a hearing at Gloucester Crown Court on 22 July.

Gloucestershire Constabulary said it still wanted to hear from anyone who may have witnessed a man and a woman walking from Tredworth to Stroud Road between 21:00 and 22:30 BST on Sunday. Officers would also like to hear from anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage of the area.
