Two men have been released on bail after a fight involving five people in Leicester left one man in a serious condition in hospital.

Police were called to reports of a confrontation shortly before 03:00 BST on Saturday in St James Road, near Evington Road in Evington.

Officers said a man in his 30s remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition, while another man in his 30s was discharged with minor injuries. A third man was also discharged from hospital before police arrived.

Two men, 38 and 36, who were arrested on suspicion of affray have since been released on bail, Leicestershire Police confirmed.

Police said inquiries were ongoing and a scene preservation cordon remains in place in St James Road.
