Oil leak puts back-up freight vessel out of action
BBCA back-up freight vessel brought in to support services while the Isle of Man's main ferry underwent repairs now needs repairs of its own, the operator has said.
The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company confirmed the MV Arrow would be entering dry dock in Birkenhead for a week from Sunday after an oil leak in one of its control pitch propeller systems was identified.
The freight vessel was brought back to the island last week after it was confirmed the flagship passenger ferry, Manxman, would be out of action until late September.
The Steam Packet said the former flagship vessel, Ben-my-Chree, would continue to carry out both passenger and freight services to Heysham during the period.
MV Arrow is expected to return to the island on 16 August, it added.
