Tenth suspect held in gun murder probe

A 10th suspect has been arrested by police investigating the murder of a teenager shot dead two years ago.

Ellis Cox, 19, was shot in the back on the Liver Industrial Estate in Aintree, Merseyside, in June 2024.

Merseyside Police said a 25-year-old man from Liverpool was being held on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder.

Detectives believe Cox was shot with a self-loading pistol as he went through the industrial estate on his way back from Southport.

Merseyside Police Det Ch Insp Steve McGrath said: "I hope this latest arrest illustrates how we remain as determined as ever to find the people responsible for the murder of Ellis Cox.

"Even though more that two years have now passed since he was killed, we are still fully committed to getting justice for Ellis' family.

"Although we have made this arrest, it is vital that anyone who has information comes forward as you could assist our ongoing investigation."
