Ellis Cox was shot dead on a Liverpool industrial estate in 2024

A man has been arrested as part of an investigation into the unsolved killing of a teenager who was shot dead on a Liverpool industrial estate two years ago.

Ellis Cox, 19, was shot in the back on the Liver Industrial Estate in Aintree in June 2024.

A 24-year-old man from Walton has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder, Merseyside Police said.

It brings the total number of arrests in the inquiry to eight, with the previously held suspects all released on conditional bail.

Police believe Ellis was shot with a self-loading pistol as he went through the industrial estate after going to Southport with friends.

Det Insp Steve Wilkinson said: "Our investigation continues to progress and this man will be questioned about Ellis' murder.

"I want to thank the community so far for the information they have provided to us and please be assured that we are determined to get justice for Ellis' family.

"We're continuing to appeal for any information from anyone who is yet to come forward, the smallest detail of which could be vital to our inquiries."

Earlier this year a £20,000 Crimestoppers reward for information leading to a conviction was doubled.
