Man dies after car and van collide on village road

A man has died after a collision between a car and a van in a Suffolk village.

The East of England Ambulance Service (EEAS) said it was called just before 04:30 BST to Helmingham Road in Otley, near Ipswich.

Two ambulances, an ambulance officer vehicle and the East Anglian Air Ambulance attended. The man died at the scene "despite the best efforts of bystanders and clinicians", the EEAS added.

Suffolk Police said Helmingham Road was likely to remain closed until early afternoon.
