A stretch of the A12 in Essex will be closed overnight for two weeks for "essential repairs", National Highways said.

Road surface repairs will be carried out in both directions at different points between junctions 19 for Boreham and 25 for Marks Tey.

Between 20 and 25 April, the road will be closed each night between Marks Tey and junction 23 for Kelvedon between 21:00 and 05:00 BST.

The diversion route will take motorists from Marks Tey onto the A120, down to the A131 at Great Notley and back on to the A12 at Boreham.

When repairs are carried out to the northbound stretch, the same diversion route will be used in reverse.

The works are due to finish on 2 May.
