Jason Burrill, who has worked on James Bond and Marvel films, has spoken about his mental health struggles

A body double who has appeared in James Bond and Marvel films says he "doesn't remember filming" much of the movies as he opened up about his mental health.

Jason Burrill, from Seaford, worked as a stand-in for Dave Bautista in Spectre and the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie, which he says came about after he was mistaken for the Hollywood actor while on holiday.

Burrill, who also won Big Brother in 2016, said opening up after putting on a "brick wall facade" helped him to understand his anxieties and recognise that "something wasn't right".

He told BBC Radio Sussex: "I grew myself big and strong to keep people at a distance."

Burrill added: "Mental health started being talked about more and it had a knock-on effect with me. I just knew something wasn't right.

"I don't remember filming James Bond or Marvel. There's six months of shoots in places like Austria, and I remember bits, but not so much."

After learning to open up, Burrill said he had "learned to say 'no more'".

He added: "The next stage is to tell friends what your problem is. I think it is always a learning curve."

Burrill, who moved to East Sussex from London when he was seven, says his body-doubling career began when he started to receive unknown calls after being mistaken for Bautista while on holiday in Portugal.

After picking up, he was called into a studio to speak to director James Gunn and actors Chris Pratt and Bautista, and was chosen to work on Guardians of the Galaxy in 2012.

Following the success of the film, Burrill went on to work alongside Bautista again in Spectre in 2014.
