Tributes paid after death of pedestrian hit by car
Hertfordshire ConstabularyA family paid tribute to a "one-of-a-kind" father, grandfather and husband who died three weeks after he was hit by a car as a pedestrian.
Matt McKee, 51, from Corby, Northamptonshire, died in hospital after the collision on the A414 near the junction with Buncefield Lane in Hemel Hempstead.
Hertfordshire Police said he was struck by a silver Hyundai i10 at about 10:35 BST on 22 July.
Mr McKee was described by his family as "full of character, full of life and never afraid to say what he thought."
In a tribute, they said: "He loved his family in his own way, through his words, his humour, his teasing, his stories and, most importantly, by always being there."
They said he was a passionate Manchester United fan who enjoyed watching matches with his youngest son, and a keen pool player.
The tribute read: "He loved his pool and could happily spend hours playing. It was a huge part of who he was, and so many memories were made around that pool table.
"Matt was one of a kind. He had his own way of doing things, his own way of making people laugh and his own way of showing people that he cared. He was loved for exactly who he was."
The police have appealed for more information from those who were in the area and witnessed events leading to the collision.
