Bomb disposal team detonates device on beach

A suspected explosive device has been detonated on a beach after being found in Bridlington, Humberside Police said.

A cordon was put in place earlier and some residents in the Foresters Way area of the East Yorkshire town were evacuated following the discovery.

The force said its explosive ordnance disposal team attended, and after examining the device "successfully detonated it on the beach".

A spokesperson confirmed it caused "no further risk or danger to the public" and the cordon had now been lifted.
