Four more people arrested over Celtic title party trouble

Police have arrested four more people over disorder that broke out following Celtic's league title victory in May.

Three men - aged 38, 33 and 19 - and one woman, aged 22, have been charged with various offences.

It brings the total number of arrests made in connection with the disorder to 28. Two officers were seriously injured and three members of the public needed hospital treatment following the trouble in the Trongate area of the city on 16 May.

It came after Celtic beat Hearts 3-1 on the last day of the league season to overtake the Edinburgh side and win the championship.

The 38-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with a breach of the peace, while a 33-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with assault and breach of the peace.

A 19-year-old man was arrested and charged with reckless conduct and a breach of the peace and the 22-year-old woman was arrested and charged in connection with reckless conduct.

The force said enquiries remain ongoing regarding criminality at Parkhead, where fans invaded the pitch to celebrate, and over the scenes in the Trongate area.

Police Scotland estimated about 3,000 supporters gathered in the city centre after the dramatic 3-1 win over Hearts secured Celtic's fifth Scottish title in a row.

The day before the game, the Parkhead club had asked fans not to take part in an unofficial "title party".
