Four more arrested over Celtic title party disorder

Detectives investigating trouble in Glasgow city centre after Celtic won the Premiership title in May have arrested and charged four men in a "pre-planned day of action".

The men - two aged 30, one aged 25 and a 21-year-old - were arrested at five properties in Springburn and Govanhill in Glasgow, and Blantyre and Bothwell in South Lanarkshire.

Police Scotland said it took the number of arrests over the disorder to 24.

Two officers were seriously injured and three members of the public required hospital treatment following trouble in the Trongate area of the city on Saturday 16 May.

Officers in riot gear moved in to clear the streets as bottles and other missiles were thrown at them.

Police Scotland previously published images of 58 people they wanted to interview.

Supt Derrick Johnston, said: "Today's operation is the result of extensive work over a number of weeks and we will continue to carry out inquiries.

"I hope this day of action makes it clear to those involved that we will not give up and you will be brought to justice.

"Significant inquiries remain ongoing into this disorder which impacted communities, businesses, police officers and supporters.

"I would urge anyone with any information to contact us."

Information can also be passed to detectives via a dedicated online portal.

The Major Incident Public Portal (MIPP) is a website that gives the public access to a form to pass on information, images and footage and can be accessed here.

Police Scotland estimated about 3,000 supporters gathered after a dramatic 3-1 win over Hearts sealed Celtic's fifth Scottish title in a row.

The day before the game, Celtic urged its fans not to take part in an unofficial "title party".

Last year's gathering resulted in 19 arrests, injuries to four police officers and a massive clean-up operation the following day.
