Candidates announced for Hackleton and Roade by-election
PA MediaSix candidates have been confirmed as standing in a by-election following the resignation of a councillor who had been suspended.
Adam Smith was originally elected as a Reform UK councillor for Hackleton and Roade but was suspended by the party a month after last May's local elections, and has since sat as an independent.
Reform won control of North Northamptonshire Council at last year's election but the party has since seen a number of councillors defect or leave their posts across the county's two unitary authorities.
The by-election is set to be held on 7 May, the same date as the rest of this year's local elections in England.
The candidates for the Hackleton and Roade seat are:
- Maggie Clubley – The Conservative Party Candidate
- Peter French – Labour and Co-operative Party
- Ron Johnson – Independent
- Dave Pearson – Green Party
- Stephen Gordon Shellabear – Liberal Democrats
- Laura Christine Weston – Reform UK
