Two men attacked with knife, billhook and machete

An investigation has been launched after two men were stabbed in County Tyrone on Thursday morning.

It happened in Omagh town at about 1:30 BST at the former health centre on the Old Mountfield Road and involved three male assailants.

The victims, aged 27 and 31, were in a van which was forced into a carpark by a blue or grey five-door car, which three men then emerged from and attacked them with weapons including a knife, billhook and a machete.

The victims sustained serious injuries but they are not believed to be life threatening, police said.

Another man and two women were also inside the van.

Another altercation, which happened before the Omagh incident and may be linked to it, is also being investigated by police.

It happened at a petrol station in Campsie and involved the two male victims, one of which was struck by a silver Vauxhall Insignia.

Police have appealed for anyone with information or footage to come forward.
