Disappointed air show fans offered free race entry
TCExplorer / GeographTicketholders of an air show that was cancelled less than a week before it was due to take place are being offered free motor racing tickets by the host venue.
Montserrat Events was due to host Hampshire Air Festival at Thruxton aerodrome and race circuit on 12 and 13 September but, on Monday 7 September, organisers said the company would be put into liquidation.
Thruxton Race Circuit said it was not the organiser of the air show but still wanted to welcome people to the venue.
It said anyone with a ticket to the air festival could fill in an online form to claim free entry to any 2027 racing event.
A statement from the circuit, posted on social media, said: "We know a lot of people were looking forward to visiting Thruxton this weekend for the Hampshire Air Festival.
"The event was organised and promoted by Montserrat Events, not by Thruxton Circuit, but it was our venue ticket holders were expecting to visit, and we'd still like the opportunity to welcome you here and give you a great day out.
"So, we'd like to offer every Hampshire Air Festival ticketholder a complimentary admission ticket to a Thruxton race meeting in 2027.
"It won't replace the event you were expecting this weekend, but hopefully it gives something to look forward to and the chance to come and experience Thruxton."
Montserrat Events, which previously organised the Victory Festival and Air Display at Lee-on-the-Solent, said it was with "profound sadness" that it announced the cancellation.
Ticketholders have been advised to contact their card provider to recover their payment.
