Ex-ITFC manager to strut his stuff on the catwalk

An Ipswich Town legend has agreed to take part in a college fashion show to help raise money for a Suffolk cancer charity.

George Burley, who led Ipswich to Premier League promotion in 2000 and played for the Blues from 1973 to 1985, will join the models on the catwalk for the event on 12 June at Suffolk New College's Rope Walk campus in Ipswich.

The fashion show is being held in aid of Cancer Support Suffolk, which Burley became a patron of last year after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2024.

He has since been given the all clear.

Burley will be joined on the catwalk by other models who have either had a cancer diagnosis or have worked closely with the charity.

Hair and beauty learners from the college will be helping the models, and music students will provide some of the entertainment.

Mark Murphy, CEO of Cancer Support Suffolk, said: "I'm so thrilled that George Burley is going to be modelling for us.

"The staff and students have really embraced the show and will be providing lots of help and support on the night. It's going to be a very emotional evening."

Alan Pease, principal and CEO of the college, praised the help his wife received from the charity last year after she received a cancer diagnosis.

Pease said: "I know first hand of the work that Cancer Support Suffolk does thanks to the incredibly brilliant help they gave to my wife Angela.

"It is our absolute privilege to support this amazing charity."
