High school evacuated over malicious communications

A secondary school was evacuated after reports of malicious communications were sent, police said.

Suffolk Police was called to Stoke High School Ormiston Academy in Ipswich just after 08:05 BST.

A spokesperson for the force said officers attended the school site on Maidenhall Approach to establish the full circumstances of the incident.

At about 12:00, they said staff and pupils had returned and there had been no arrests, but inquiries would continue.

A spokesperson for the school said it had carried out a full site evacuation after "receiving information about the safety of the site" and the police were contacted immediately, before they then confirmed the school was safe.

"Students and staff returned to the site shortly afterwards and the day proceeded as normal," the spokesperson added.

"All students and staff are safe and well, and we thank parents and carers for their continued support."
