Three taken to hospital following six-vehicle crash

Three men have been taken to hospital following a six-vehicle crash which closed the motorway.

Emergency services were called to reports of a multi-vehicle crash near junction seven of the M5 southbound, in Worcester, at about 07:40 BST on Monday.

Two men were treated for potentially serious injuries at the scene before being taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital, West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) said.

A third man was treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch.

A fourth man was assessed by paramedics and discharged at the scene, a WMAS spokesperson added.

The M5 southbound within junction seven for Worcester South was closed following the crash, with motorists facing diversions and delays of about 45 minutes.

In an update at about 09:10, National Highways said the carriageway had since reopened and all vehicles had been moved to the hard shoulder.
