Support for pupils making secondary school move
Getty ImagesFamilies concerned about their children's transition from primary school to secondary school are being offered additional support.
Drop-in sessions are being provided across East Yorkshire this summer by the mental health support teams from Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust for those with a child in year six.
Charlotte Dawson, from the Trust, said parents play an "important role" in helping their child adjust to a new school.
She said: "Encouraging open conversations about any worries, focusing on the exciting opportunities ahead, practising new routines where possible and reassuring children that it's okay to feel nervous can all make a real difference."
She added: "We hope these sessions, attending and being present at local events and our online resources will help families feel more confident and supported as they get ready for September."
The sessions will be held at the following times and locations:
- Beverley The Maples: Thursday 23 July, 13:30 to 15:00 GMT
- Bridlington: Tuesday 28 July, 10:00 to 12:00 (Headlands School) and 14:00 to 16:00 (Bridlington School)
- Hedon Rosedale Community Centre: Tuesday 28 July, 13:30 to 15:00
