Murder arrest after woman found at property

Police were called to an address in Horncastle on Thursday afternoon

A 34-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found unconscious at a property in Horncastle, police said.

Lincolnshire Police said it received a report that a 27-year-old woman had suffered serious injuries at the property on Warwickshires Way at about 16:20 BST on Thursday.

Officers attended and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said they believed there were "no outstanding suspects at this time".

The force said there would be an ongoing police presence in the area while officers worked to establish the circumstances of the woman's death.

Det Ch Insp Andy McWatt said: "We are urging anyone who may have seen or heard anything - no matter how insignificant it may seem - to contact us.

"Any piece of information could prove vital in helping us piece together exactly what happened and in securing justice for the victim."
