Family pay tribute after man dies in alleged attack
Police ScotlandThe family of a man who died following an alleged attack in South Queensferry have paid tribute to a "much-loved son and uncle."
Police were called to reports of an assault in the town's Morison Gardens at about 06:10 on Friday.
Emergency services attended but Leigh McDonald, 54, died at the scene.
A 58-year-old man has appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court charged with murder. David McDonald made no plea and was remanded in custody.
Police Scotland said a post-mortem examination would be carried out in due course.
McDonald's family issued a statement via the force asking for privacy.
They said: "We are devastated at the loss of a much loved son and uncle. Leigh was loved by many people who will also be affected by this.
"We are taking it a day at a time, and we ask that our privacy is respected as we try to come to terms with what has happened."
The force said there would be additional patrols are in the area to offer reassurance to the local community.
