Guernsey's ferry operator said journeys would not be disrupted by fuel shortages or "soaring prices" caused by the ongoing war in Iran.

Brittany Ferries said its sailings in Guernsey would be "guaranteed" to run throughout the year as it had agreed fuel contracts in advance.

The service said political uncertainty was already causing "enough pain at the petrol pump for families" and that inflation had caused the cost of its holiday to rise at the beginning of 2026, rather than the war.

CEO Christophe Mathieu said following increases earlier this year due to inflation, there would be "no further rises in the weeks or months ahead".

"Conflict or other global uncertainty should not be used as the basis for knee-jerk price hikes," he added.

Brittany Ferries said over the past two weeks it had seen an increase of 37% in reservations for travel in July and August.
