Anglian Water has apologised and says it is working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible

Anglian Water has apologised after residents in an area of Lincolnshire experienced "very low water pressure or no water at all" due to a problem with its pumps.

According to the firm, engineers were dealing with a "complex repair" to the pumps, which are used to push water around the network, in the Great Ponton area, near Grantham.

It said repairs were expected to take several days to complete, with local road closures in place on Gorse Lane and Wyville Road to allow for the work to be carried out.

Bottled water had been distributed to approximately 240 properties, including 72 priority customers, with temporary supplies being brought in using tankers, the company added.

A spokesperson said: "We're really sorry that some customers in Great Ponton and the surrounding area have had low water pressures or no water at all.

"As always, our teams are working around the clock to keep taps flowing across our region.

"We know that going without water in such hot weather is really difficult for both customers and local businesses."

Resident Steve Fowler said it was the second time in as many months there had been issues with the water supply.

"It happened last month for a couple of days," he said.

"It took them eight or nine hours to tell us what was going on, and by that time you've got to go and fetch your own water from the shops.

"They brought water to us after that, and this time they've just done the same."

He said his water was off for most of Saturday, with the supply returning at low pressure on Sunday morning.

It then went off again on Sunday afternoon until the early hours of Monday, he added.

He said it meant he and his family were unable to use the toilet as there was no flush, so they had to drive to relatives in Grantham to use their facilities.

"They delivered bottled water, but that's no good to have a shower or bath," he said.

"It's been a bit of a run-around, really."

Anglian Water said anyone who was experiencing difficulties as a result of the supply issues could contact the firm's priority services team on 0800 1412934.
