Firefighters have returned to a former social club in Derbyshire after a fire on Wednesday.

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called at 19:32 BST on Wednesday to a blaze at the former Inkersall Social Club in Dade Avenue.

Crews from Staveley and Chesterfield, supported by an aerial ladder platform from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service's Mansfield station extinguished the fire and left the scene at 22:05.

The service said crews returned on Thursday morning before a planned reinspection following calls about smoke coming from the roof of the property.

A spokesperson for the fire service said crews were expected to remain on scene for some time.

"If you can see or smell smoke, please keep your windows and doors closed. Please avoid the area while emergency services deal with the incident," the spokesperson added.
