Man arrested after climbing on to roof

A man has been arrested after climbing onto the roof of a property and refusing to come down.

Lancashire Police were called to Bolton Road in Chorley at about 09:15 BST. Officers said the man then began throwing objects from the roof and setting small fires.

A man suffered an arm injury as a result of falling debris and substantial damage was caused to several houses and parked vehicles.

A 42-year-old man from Adlington was arrested at 16:00 on suspicion of assault, assault on an emergency worker, arson with intent to endanger life and criminal damage. He remains in custody.

The force added that a small number of surrounding properties were evacuated due to safety concerns.
