Man, 35, dies following altercation outside shop
GoogleA man has died following an altercation with two men outside a town centre shop, police said.
Marek Krygier, 35, a Polish national who had been living in Blackburn, was seriously injured outside Home Bargains in Byrom Street a week ago and died in hospital on Saturday, a Lancashire Police spokesperson said.
Police have appealed for help in tracing his next of kin.
Connor Doyle, 43, of Cheltenham Road, Blackburn, has been charged with manslaughter. He has been remanded in custody ahead of an appearance at Lancashire Magistrates' Court on Saturday.
Police said a row broke out at about 18:45 GMT on 27 March.
The 35-year-old "later collapsed and was taken to hospital, where despite the best efforts of medical staff he died the following day", a spokesperson said.
"A Home Office post-mortem examination showed the cause of Marek's death was a head injury."
A 44-year-old man has been released on conditional bail pending further enquiries, the force added.
The investigation continues and detectives have appealed for anyone who went to the Home Bargains store between 16:00 and 21:00 on 27 March, and who witnessed an altercation between a group of men outside the main entrance to contact them.
They have also appealed for anyone with dashcam, CCTV or phone footage to get in touch.
