Grenade 'resembling elephant' blown up in field

A World War Two grenade found in a stream has been destroyed in a controlled explosion by bomb disposals experts.

Thames Valley Police were called after the device was found in the water near Donnington Bridge, Oxford, shortly after 13:15 BST on Sunday.

A photo of the grenade shared on social media by the force saw some comment that it "resembled an elephant walking off".

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team were called in to remove the grenade. It was taken to fields just south of the bridge and and detonated with an explosion heard about 17:00.
