Two men have been found guilty of manslaughter after a fellow burglar was killed during a raid on a mobile home in Nottinghamshire.

Taylor Green, 22, was found with fatal injuries on 25 February 2025 near Lodge Lane Industrial Estate in Tuxford.

Prosecutors previously told Nottingham Crown Court that David McCandless and Mason Meanwell had planned and carried out a violent burglary, creating a situation in which Green was stabbed as the householder defended himself in a legally justified way.

On Wednesday, a jury also found McCandless guilty of conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary, which Meanwell had already admitted. Both will be sentenced at a later date.

The trial had heard four men - Green, McCandless, 44, of Wright Street, Newark, 25-year-old Meanwell, of Byron Close, Newark, and another who has not been identified - broke into a mobile home while brandishing weapons.

Ethan Arnold and his partner had been in bed at the time, the court heard, and Green was stabbed by the occupant during a violent confrontation. He died shortly afterwards.

The court heard a 999 call made by Arnold, in which he described men in balaclavas forcing their way into his bedroom and him being attacked.

Both manslaughter verdicts were delivered by a majority of the jurors, while McCandless was found guilty of the conspiracy charge following a unanimous decision.
