Three-car crash to keep A1 shut into evening

Part of the A1 in Nottinghamshire is set to remain closed into Sunday evening following a three-car crash.

Police were called to the southbound carriageway near Fernwood, Newark, at about 17:00 BST after reports of a crash involving three vehicles.

An update from the force at about 18:10 said the road "is likely to remain shut for several hours" and motorists were asked to find alternative routes.

National Highways said the road was closed between the A46 and the A52 at Grantham, Lincolnshire, with three miles of tailbacks on the approach.
