Man, 74, dies after being hit by car in Broughty Ferry

A 74-year-old man has died after being hit by a car in Broughty Ferry.

The incident happened on Forthill Road at about 13:00 and involved a red Maserati Quattraporte car.

Police said the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 55-year-old driver was taken to hospital for treatment and released. He has been charged in connection with the incident and is due to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

The road was closed until about 20:30.

Sgt David Farr said: "Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we are asking anyone who saw what happened to get in touch.

"Please also check any private CCTV or dashcam footage you have to see if anything has been captured that could assist with our investigation."

A blue tarpaulin was erected in the garden of a property.
