Electric motorbikes ridden wrong way down motorway
Merseyside PoliceTwo men have been arrested after electric bikes were seen riding the wrong way down a motorway on Merseyside.
A 21-year-old man from West Derby, Liverpool, and a 17-year-old boy from Knotty Ash were held after the incident on the M62 travelling eastbound towards Liverpool on Sunday.
The suspects were arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving without insurance and driving without a licence after two electric motorbikes were recovered in nearby shrubbery, along with discarded cannabis resin.
"The driving displayed is unfathomable," Inspector Carl McNulty said.
The 21-year-old suspect was also arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis and receiving stolen goods.
Both have been released under investigation.

It was reported that the riders rode along the motorway before coming off at junction five and re-joining on the other side, against the flow of traffic on the hard shoulder.
They then reportedly rode away via an embankment, discarded the bikes and fled.
"The riders drove in the wrong direction of a motorway network with fast moving traffic, which not only put their own lives at risk but also other motorists," McNulty added.
"The Sur-ron bikes we have recovered are high-powered electric motorbikes which didn't have any insurance or road tax.
"The suspects rode with no regard for public safety."
