US markets down amid bond sell-off

Turbulence in international bond markets has seen the returns investors demand on government debt, in the form of bonds, soar. Pressure from rising government debt and persistent inflation have been mounting, with the UK and Japan the latest to be hit, reaching levels not seen since the 2008 financial crisis.
