CCTV captures 'enormous' lightning strike
Video has emerged of the moment a lightning strike hit a tree outside a care home during an early morning storm.
The footage shows a large flash on Outwood Common Road in Billericay, Essex, just after 05:15 BST on Tuesday.
Andrew Taubert was getting ready for work when he heard an "enormous bang and saw a bright orange and red flash" before seeing smoke coming off a tree.
A spokeswoman for Hallmark Anisha Grange care home confirmed the tree was struck, adding: "Our experienced maintenance team responded promptly to secure the area", and confirmed all residents were safe.
