The designer behind DR Congo's World Cup suit: 'I wanted to change people's views on Africa'

The work of Congolese designer Alvin Junior Mak has gone viral worldwide.

The fashionista, based in France, was the brain behind the bold and classy outfits displayed by the Democratic Republic of Congo's national squad during their arrival at the 2026 Fifa World Cup, in Houston, US.

The collection includes leopard-themed suits and bags.

Mak told the BBC's Celestine Karoney the leopard was a symbol of "strength resilience".
