Breakdancing: Pupils and parents boogie before school
A primary school in East Yorkshire says playing loud music into the playground three times a week has improved concentration and increased attendance.
Leven Primary School encourages pupils and parents to "rise and shine" and dance to classic tunes every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning.
Headteacher Leanne Hansell said the children "like a different start to the day".
"It's really exciting. They get to dance with their parents, with their siblings, with their friends, and with their teachers. It's a real community feel," she said.
The disco started in June, initially on a Monday and a Friday, but became so popular that it was introduced on a Wednesday as well.
"It's certainly helped boost punctuality. We have children rushing through the gates wanting to get here as soon as possible," Hansell said.
"It's just become part of who we are as a school."
