Officer set alight by flare during football disorder

West Midlands Police have released footage showing the extent of the violence as Legia Warsaw fans clashed with police before a match against Aston Villa in 2023.

Eight Legia Warsaw fans have recently admitted their part in the disorder.

Six police officers were hurt in clashes with away fans near Villa Park ahead of the Europa Conference match, including one officer being set alight by a thrown flare.

The men all pleaded guilty to charges of violent disorder at Birmingham Crown Court and will be sentenced at the same court on 21 December.
