Damaged water pipe causes disruption

A damaged water pipe has caused disruption along a high street.

Water can be seen shooting out of a main in Shirley High Street in Southampton, in an area cordoned off by Southern Water.

A spokesperson said there had been a "very small drop" in pressure following the burst, but not enough to impact customers.

Southern Water has been carrying out emergency sewer repair work in the high street, which has an eastbound one-way closure in place.

The spokesperson for Southern Water added: "Our teams are currently repairing a burst water main in Shirley High Street.

"We're sorry for the disruption this may be causing to customers and businesses in the area, and we're working as quickly as possible to resolve the issue."
