Watch: Pigs on the loose bring A-road to a standstill

Motorists filmed the moment 20 pigs brought cars to a halt on an A-road.

The animals caused mayhem on the A127 at Dunton, near Basildon, as they darted in between cars on Sunday afternoon, leading to the road's closure.

Firearms officers from Essex Police decided to fatally shoot five of the pigs due to the perceived danger to road users, while the rest were safely captured.

A spokesman for the force said the decision "was not taken lightly" and that it was unknown where the animals came from.
